Broken Denture Repair

Partial Denture Repair

Metal Break

Metal on Partial Denture is Broke into Two

If you have a base that is made out of metal and it broke into two, this can be repaired, but can't be repaired correctly through the mail unless an impression is sent along with your partial denture.

Even though you might be able to connect the two pieces together, when repairing metal on a partial denture, the partial denture needs to sit on a dental model to make sure when micro-welded the partial is at the right angles so it will fit in your mouth precisely. If the angle is off by any degree, your partial denture will not fit, making the partial denture unwearable.

Broken Metal Clasps or Hooks

Partial Denture Clasps

Metal Clasps can be repaired with a dental impression
Partial dentures are made to fit in your mouth exactly. Good dentists won't guess on putting back something that needs precise work. That is the metal clasps need to wrap around your existing natural tooth exactly. The metal clasp needs to be custom made so it will hook around your existing natural tooth. In addition, besides the inside area of the metal hook, the outside is just as important where it needs to fit in between your existing teeth. The clasp can be repaired, but you will need to find a dentist locally who can take the impression along with your partial. Send the partial denture along with the impression material attached to the partial denture. You will need a dentist to take the impression for you.

Partial Denture Model

Above shows you why an impression is so important.
Once the dentist has the impression of your partial, a dental model of the structure of your mouth can be made. From this model, repairing a metal clasp makes more sense because now the dentist can place the clasp on the partial denture that will closely fit the natural tooth. After you get your clasp repair back, you may need to see a dentist for a final adjustment. Whatever you do, never try adjusting it yourself because if you bend too much it will actually break.

Metal Break

Plastic (Acrylic) Broke on the Partial Denture
The repair of the plastic on the partial denture is considered as a break. As along as the pieces match up like a puzzle, the dentist will be able to repair your broken partial denture.

Porcelain Denture Tooth

Loose Porcelain Front Tooth on Partial Denture.
In most cases, if the front tooth is still intact, the area that broke are actually two metal pins that hold the tooth in place. This means that a new porcelain tooth cannot be put back on because the metal pins are broken. The small metal pins cannot be repaired because it is connected to the gum area on a metal base. Repairing the metal pins would be costly if at all possible. The alternate solution that will work fine is to replace the tooth with an acrylic tooth.

The metal pins are in place to secure the porcelain tooth to the denture. The reason for the metal pins is because the denture acrylic does not adhere very well onto porcelain. The metal pins help give the main support of the porcelain denture tooth. You may be wondering if the acrylic tooth will work the same and look the same on your denture as the rest of the denture teeth. The dentist compares the shade of your existing teeth to the tooth that would be replaced. All denture teeth acrylic or porcelain do change color over time. The dentist will make sure the tooth that is used to replace the tooth will closely match the rest of the teeth. We wouldn't be in business for long if the teeth that were used can be easily seen out of place on anyone's denture.

Chipped Porcelain Denture Tooth on Partial Denture.
Porcelain Denture teeth that are chipped should be replaced with a new tooth. If even you have the gfragment of the porcelain tooth, the chip if glued back on the tooth won't last as the chewing of food will make it break again. Again, the chipped tooth would be replaces with a matching acrylic tooth.
